My ship got problem???

As a operator / trader/ chartered ,  Have you ever send out an enquiry , and every time the vessel in the market , all supplier reply with ” tight on the eta range”/ ” no cargo” / “sorry just no offer”/ from time to time you might hear the answer ” problematic vessel”, what exactly is that mean ??

Normally that happen when certain vessel come to take bunker , first time got problem with supplier A, and next time with B(and they “ban” supplier A”), until they try every supplier in the market

To this point you may ask” so you are telling me if vessel have shortage I just keep silent ?” Of course not , if vessel experience shortage of course voice it out, here is the key : the different of a “difficult” vessel and a “problem” vessel . “Difficult ” vessel means the crew has so strong integrity if there is 1mt shortage there is 1mt shortage , lots of blue chips shipping company with strong culture normally tend to be difficult ships as they just stay their ground. However for some owners or operator , if there is 5mt shortage , crew can reply 10mt or even more ! I have personally experienced a South East Asia Flag ship claim shortage 20mt before pumping !

Of course , sometimes could be technical vessels , for example New built vessels normally have higher chance of quantity disputes.

If you experience your vessel being called “problematic”, maybe just take as a feedback chamber , take full monitor on the supply process but also , check the tank , talk to chief engineer , don’t take the easy way out of just stick to the story of “all supplier is not trustworthy  “.

Until next time !

What do think about this ?
