30 Days Beginner Guide Day 25 :Port due Anchor fee

Know your cost !

Apart from your bunker bill there are sometimes more charges than you expected, port due is one of them

Many port will charge port due / anchor fee even you do a bunker call and not using much service / facility. Most of them is insignificant but some could be surprise. Always check with the agent on the fees you need to pay.

Some port are free for certain period and then start charging ( for example FUJIAIRAH ), if your port stay too long then the fee will start adding up. The reason this is important is while a vessel might be waiting for cargo or next voyage, choosing a right place to wait can save you some money. Most supplier / trader can tell you roughly the cost of calling a port and you can do some calculation before you make the decision
