Yes it could affect your ships !
If you watch the new recently, the news on the protest in Hong Kong is getting more and more intense, as a HKie watching daily LIVE update, below are 2 ways it might affect your bunkering operation in HK in the next few weeks :
1. Mass work strike
The first work strike will be started on 5 AUG (Monday) and no one will know who will take leave or need a “urgent medical leave ” suddenly , so the crew/agency personnel/marine department staff/surveyor/PIC of the physical supplier might be not on duty on that day and thus affect your bunkering plan. In this case i will suggest ship owners try to get more than one PIC contacts in case need any help on that day.
2. Land Transport
As you know on last week there was a new movement called “non-cooperative act” which bus driver will drive slow and people stopping train by pressing emergency on the metro. combine with the mass protest planned since 3 Aug in 5 districts in Hong Kong , there is a high chance that the transportation will be literally stopped for hours. It could affect the bunker barge crew when they try to work on their shift ( most crew member change shift in Tsuen Wan / Sai wan ) which is nearby the protest area this week could be affected.
Another potential risk is in case any crew change there might be difficulty for them to travel to/ from the airport and you might consider to do the crew change in the next port.
