No business meeting, no business trip and back to basic – Telephone and email. The hardest is you can’t meet the client face to face in the office.
With the usage of Whatsapp, email, telephone, Skype different channel of communication, most of sales work will remain unaffected. Anyone can sell Russian crude oil and M100 fuel on LinkedIn messenger ( like literally please STOP ). Of course, broker and platform service provider can be helpful in terms of business development, however supplier and trader still have to do their own due diligent for credit assessment. Its brutal truth that there are indeed conflict of incentive and no one care your risk more than you do. No one can expect what will happen when the oil price drop to one of lowest in past years, credit risk remain one of the biggest threat for bunker trader and physical supplier. ( In April 2020, one of the ALL time biggest Singapore supplier is rumored having financial difficulty.)
There are also increasing number of webinar, content marketing and social media marketing could be another way for the seller to generate new leads and offer value. One things i surely miss the most is yelling in the office for firm counter and feedback !
