Can we supply at “this” shipyard ?
A common question from client when vessel need bunker in China shipyard,.
There are 3 things i will consider for that question :
1. Do vessel need domestic or tax free oil ?
For most bonded ( tax free ) bunker for ocean going vessel, 99% is supplied by barge, so for tax-free bunker normally wont be any operation issue as long as there are coverage by physical supplier.
2. Do the shipyard need any special permit ?
When client try to bunker in certain shipyard, shipyard might require special permit. Normally the procedure will be done by shipping agent / shipyard , once physical supplier have the nomination.
3. Any firework during supply window ?
Generally supply in shipyard is different from anchorage, there will be a period of port stay instead of a short supply window. However for last minute enquiry , there might be chances that firework (e.g. welding ) might be performed nearby and thus bunkering operation is too dangerous to proceed
