Heineken : From zero alcohol to zero carbon

Big statement from the beer giant

Heineken trying to ship their first carbon neutral shipment  in 20 years, a big move to support the climate change movement. While most people screaming towards shipping industry for the  Sulphur and carbon emission ( with the iPhone they purchased which manufactured in China and shipped by merchant fleet with minimal shipping fee due to tight control cost of shipping – aka traditional fuel oil  ). Heineken make a statement of – even the cost  might be much higher but at least they try to aim at a honorable goal and have a firm plan to execute.

They might achieve zero carbon by

  1. Transport the cargo with fleet that consumed alternative fuels – with growing investment and development into LNG, hydrogen, ammonia, bio fuel and all new types of alternatives fuels, shipper might achieve zero carbon in 20 years with some substantial cost ( as most of the existing vessels yet to able to switch from radiational fuel oil at the moment )
  2. Offset the carbon credit by Carbon credit  – IF the emission of the said shipment is yet to be zero carbon in 2040, Heineken would still neutralize by purchasing carbon credit or other form of carbon trade platform which exist in 2040 to achieve goal.
  3. Development of traditional fuel Oil – since there are still 20 years from now to 2040, tradition fossil fuels development and refining technology might have break through by then.

Great job for the beer giant ~

Until next time
